Laser cutting 1mm Box Board

 We can laser cut paper as thin as 60-70gsm to thicker cards and boards up to 3mm thick.

Very fine detail and intricate files can be used and stunning results achieved. Card can also be vector marked, which is ideal for packaging/boxes and architectural models.

Popular applications include architectural models, custom cut stationery, prototype packaging, cards, gifts etc.

Common materials used are (but not limited to);
  • Box board - approx 1mm, 1.5mm, 2mm
  • White board - approx 1mm, 1.5mm, 2mm
  • Tinted papers 80-300gsm etc, in a variety of colours (black is very popular)
  • Specialty papers and tinted papers are best to be supplied by you, as demand varies to a point where we are unable to maintain stock levels for every colour/texture etc. Some suppliers in Sydney stock dozens if not hundreds of types of papers in all types of thicknesses and textures.

Frequently Asked Questions and Answers

In what format should I supply the cutting file?
Preferably, in native Adobe Illustrator CS4 or below format. Set up your document in RGB colour mode, and set your cut lines as R=255 G=0 B=0. To preview your artwork, and to ensure there are no unwanted cut lines, you can switch to "outline preview" mode. On a PC, the shortcut key is Ctrl+Y - you can also access it by going to View -> Outline.

What is the maximum cutting area?
We can cut and score up to an area of 600mm x 300mm.

How long does it take?
This all depends on the nature of your job, however we are able to give you an accurate turn around time when supplied with an artwork of the job, as well as material (thickness and specs) and quantity. We have found that in general, we are able to turn around most jobs within approximately 3 to 5 working days. For files which are ready to go, and comply to our format, a faster service can be arranged.

What if I want to supply my own material?
For certain types of material, this is possible. Before proceeding with the job however, you must approve a spot test on an offcut which you supply to us. As a result, keep in mind turn around time will be increased by 2-3 days. Some papers and cards burn around the edges more than others. In certain cases like card stock above about 1mm thick, this can be rectified by applying a protective mask to the surface which can later be easily removed.
